Media Literacy Guest Speaker : Frank Scandale
Media Literacy Guest Speaker - Frank ScandaleOn Friday October 5th, Frank Scandale was interviewed by the Media Literacy class. He is a renowned journalist and has been the senior editor of The Record for many years. It was designed to be a town hall styled interview. The Media Literacy class prepared some meaningful questions beforehand to ask Frank Scandale. Some of the questions were why he first picked journalism and writing, how technology affects the media, and if social media blended ideologies between cultures. He says that the main reason he chose journalism is because his aunt encouraged him to be a journalist. The first time he wrote, he actually realized that he wanted to be a writer, not an editor. He argues that technology completely changed the way media was covered. He says that the media sources had some financial issues before they switched to advertising on the internet. Scandale's findings and experiences were interesting to many of the students; especially when he spoke about how the media is a huge influence on today's society.Damla EldivanInvestigative Journalist
