This is a limited scholarship awarded to high-achieving, mission-appropriate 9th-grade students from socioeconomically diverse backgrounds who demonstrate a passion for academic excellence and leadership.
The scholarship program ranges from $2,000 to $8,000 per student, depending on the number of applicants and demonstrated need.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be an incoming 9th grader
- Have no major discipline records
- Have a good attendance track record
- Demonstrate high academic achievement.
- Minimum GPA at the Time of Application (current GPA in the 8th Grade): 3.95 (unweighted)
- PSAT Scores: 90th percentile or higher
- MAP Test Scores (Math & Reading): 90th percentile or higher
- Exhibit leadership qualities and a strong passion for learning
- Show active participation in academic and extracurricular activities
General Information
Applicants must submit a complete application by December 31, including:
- 500-Word Personal Essay – Describing their academic goals, leadership experiences, and why they are a strong fit for Pioneer Academy
- Two Letters of Recommendation – From subject teachers who can attest to the student’s academic abilities and character
- Middle School Transcripts – Demonstrating strong academic performance
To maintain the Board of Trustees Scholarship throughout Upper School (Grades 9-12), students must:
- Maintain a minimum 3.8 unweighted GPA annually
- Enroll in at least one AP course per year (10-11th Grade)
- Be an active member of an academic club
- Hold membership in the National Honor Society (NJHS / NHS)
- Serve as a School Ambassador (assist with Open House events and mentor new students)
- No exceeding 25 demerits in a year
- Attend recommended summer programs or academic enrichment activities by the CCT (College Counseling Team)
- Complete 40+ hours of volunteer service each year
- Demonstrate commitment to school & community
- Set an example of responsibility, leadership, and kindness
Board of Trustees Scholarship applies to the school tuition. Additional fees are not covered.
In case of a serious violation of Pioneer Academy's school rules and code of conduct, the scholarship will be voided.
Step 1: Submit a complete scholarship application by March 15.
Step 2: Applications will be reviewed based on academic records, test scores, recommendations, and leadership qualities.
Step 3: Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview.
Step 4: Scholarship award notifications will be sent by April 15.
Once a scholarship is awarded, the student must continue to be enrolled and in good standing with the school both academically and behaviorally to remain eligible for that year. Applicants must reapply each academic year to continue their eligibility. The scholarship is not transferable.
Interested students must complete the Board of Trustees Scholarship Application Form and submit all required documents via the Admissions Office.
