A Visit To Pax Amicus Theater

On Tuesday, November 15th, the ELA Department teachers, our Drama club and Dr. Labate accompanied 30 students to the Pax Amicus Theater in Budd Lake, NJ. The trip was scheduled due to the vertically articulated instruction from grades 8-12 based on the life and works of Edgar Allan Poe in order to participate in the viewing of the play entitled, "Edgar Allan Poe".The play, written by Pax Amicus's founder and director Stan Barber, encompassed both actual accounts of the poet's tragic life mingled with pieces of his most famous works. The students were able to witness the works they've studied over the years such as, "The Raven", "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Fall of the House of Usher" and other pieces come to life on stage. The Theater itself, built to emulate a castle and the rainy, dreary weather only added to atmosphere of the dark nature of the works and the students were captivated at the new findings that were exposed about a poet they thought they knew so well. The actors were kind enough to participate in a question and answer session to conclude the trip."It was fascinating. The way the actors expressed their thoughts and feelings on stage inspired me to continue in my pursuit of Drama." -M. Er
