Character Trait of the Month: Honesty
At Pioneer Lower & Middle School, we cover a different character trait with various activities every month. This month's theme was Honesty!
On Mondays, we start discussing about it, why it is important, how we benefit from it … etc. Wednesdays are craft/project days related with the theme. And finally on Fridays we watch videos about it with real life examples. Our 4th grade students read aloud from the book "The Empty Pot" and discussed how the main character used honesty and the positive outcomes as a result of his honesty. After the reading session, they talked about their personal experiences when their honesty was rewarded.
On Wednesdays they started working on crafts aligned with the book. They colored petals of a flower with positive character traits they have.
All of the petals will be put together to make a large class flower which we will hang in our classroom to remind us of the positive traits we should show each day!
