Cooperative Learning in Middle School's ELA and Science Classes!

Our sixth grade students have been hard at work on an argumentative writing unit in English Language Arts Class. Students have learned about the elements of argumentation, written argumentative essays, and they have learned about the process of debate. Yesterday, students debated the topics of school uniforms and driving laws in class. In Science Class, students have been studying the process of photosynthesis as it relates to sources of energy and fuel consumption. They were posed with the question, should algae be used as a source for biofuel, and they worked in teams to conduct extensive research in order to prepare for a second round of debates. The sixth grade scholars, then, presented their scientific arguments. We are so proud of the work they've accomplished.Thank you for your continued support!
