Inter-disciplinary Lesson with ELA and Social Studies Classes
On Wednesday, January 25th, Mrs. Shannon, Mr. Triolo and Mr. Siddiqi joined together for an inter-disciplinary lesson involving a close, character analysis of specific major characters in,"The Great Gatsby" supported by an in-depth historical background presentation on the 1920's delivered by Mr. Triolo and a presentation and facilitated class discussion on economics by Mr. Siddiqi. All three teachers worked collaboratively in order to provide the students an interactive experience across disciplines. The lesson was culminated by the final project in which the students were instructed to adopt a specific character from the novel and represent that character accurately through a social media medium."It was nice that Mr. Triolo gave us a talk that supported the novel. Mr. Siddiqi's talk on economics was interesting. In general, I enjoy interdisciplinary lessons because it shows you that every subject is connected," says Fatih Yanik, a junior who participated in the project.
