Socratic dialogue session with Triangle Maths and Science Academy

On Monday, Pioneer Academy's Model United Nations Club held a Socratic dialogue session with the Model UN Club of Triangle Maths and Science Academy, North Carolina. Sixteen students, two teachers, and a parent-chaperone visited us as part of their program at the United Nations Headquarters, New York. The topic of the hour-long dialogue was improving STEM Education through the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The forum was moderated by Dr. Rahman, Head of the Social Studies Department and advisor to Pioneer's Model UN Club. The discussion began with an overview of what the Sustainable Development Goals are and why they're important.

The students then dove into a lively debate about how to best improve STEM education in order to achieve these goals. They brainstormed ideas for making science and math more accessible and engaging for all students, regardless of background or ability level. Throughout the course of the discussion, it became clear that everyone present was passionate about this issue and committed to finding ways to make STEM education more equitable for all.It was an incredibly productive discussion that left everyone feeling inspired and hopeful for the future. It was also a great opportunity for our two clubs to get to know each other better and forge lasting bonds - after all, we're all working towards the same goal: a better world for all!
