Thanksgiving Luncheon Enjoyed By All
On Wednesday, November 23rd Pioneer Academy hosted a Thanksgiving Luncheon open to the community. The luncheon has become a tradition that Ogun Akman, vice principal at Pioneer Academy, said has been going on for years. Each grade was responsible for one part of the meal. With the help of the PTA, Ms. Rios, Ms. Lainez, and Ms. Ginart were able to collect all types of Thanksgiving foods for our luncheon. Turkey and gravy were prepared by our school cafeteria, as the Student Government Association and Lifesavers Club organized the event.Local residents and our Parent-Teacher Organization members joined our students to have a memorable feast. Former teachers like Ms. Coban visited us to share the joy of this holiday and we were very glad to greet many Pioneer alumni that attended this event as well. After our principal gave the welcoming speech, Pioneer Academy's Media Club presented the Thanksgiving Special broadcast."I think that the feast was a wonderful idea. The school does a lot to promote family, and it was just another way of building community. The fact that the students are preparing the meal gives them some ownership. It's not just a Thanksgiving meal being served to them. They have helped with it," says Rza Mollaev, a Senior at Pioneer Academy. On behalf of Journalism Club, we would like to thank you to all of those who contributed in making this a fantastic event! Special thanks to Ms. Ginart, Ms. Rios, and Ms. Lainez for their preparations, support, and guidance!-Student Association
